Ware to St Margarets

2 miles (3.2km)

At Ware’s Town Bridge the river enters the Lee Valley Regional Park. The navigation and its towpath at once slip out of Ware to turn south. The optional short diversion to Amwell leads to one of the prettiest stretches of the New River, where there is a pub, as well as teas in the church on summer Sundays. Towards St Margarets, the Lea Valley Walk crosses the Greenwich Meridian Line for the first time. There are picnic tables at about halfway along this section.
